The announcement was made Friday by associate athletic director Fred Mims.
“Tony informed us of his decision that he will complete his college career elsewhere,” Iowa basketball coach Todd Lickliter said. “Tony worked hard to come back from his injury last season, and we appreciate the effort he provided throughout the course of the year. We wish him nothing but success in the future.”
Freeman missed Iowa’s first 10 games last season after suffering a stress fracture in a pre-season exhibition game.
In 22 games, Freeman averaged 13.8 points and 3.1 rebounds.
In three seasons with the Hawkeyes, Freeman played in 86 games, with 40 starts. He scored 648 career points (7.5 avg.) and totaled 200 rebounds, 240 assists and 74 steals.
