Special teams at a glance

Here is a quick look at Iowa's special teams:

SPECIAL TEAMS

The sure thing
Punter Ryan Donahue overcame early struggles to earn honorable mention All-Big Ten honors last season. He has a very strong leg and improving control.

The question
Who will take over kickoff duties from Austin Signor, who left Iowa and transferred to Eastern Illinois? It could be Daniel Murray, Trent Mossbrucker or even Donahue.

The wildcard
With the departure of Signor, Mossbrucker will have a chance to compete for the kicking job as a true freshman. He showed a strong leg and good accuracy in high school.

Final analysis
Donahue will be as good as there is in the Big Ten, and the kicking game should be improved. The Hawkeyes need to find an explosive return man, though. Sophomore Derrell Johnson-Koulianos could be it.
