Kyle Calloway, one of three returning starters on the Iowa football team’s offensive line, was charged with OWI early Saturday after Iowa City Police stopped him on his moped.

The 6-foot-7, 315-pound fifth-year senior was arrested near the intersection of Mormon Trek Boulevard and Benton Street in west Iowa City at 12:26 a.m. after he allegedly drove his moped through an accident scene.

According to a police report, Calloway’s blood alcohol content was measured at .11, more than the legal limit of .08. The report also indicated that Calloway also admitted to consuming several beers earlier in the evening.

Calloway, who turns 22 years old today, was a second-team all-Big Ten selection last season after starting all 13 games for Iowa at right tackle.

The Belleville, Ill., native has started in each of Iowa’s last 24 games, moving from the left to right side of the offensive line following his sophomore season.

He is listed as the Hawkeyes’ starting right tackle on a spring depth chart this year.

“I was very disappointed to learn of Kyle’s poor judgment,” Hawkeyes coach Kirk Ferentz said in a press release. “Kyle will be expected to complete counseling and educational requirements, extensive community service obligations and game suspension prior to returning to the field.”

" I'm tired of all the off field antics by Iowa players. I'm available for hire to drive the players from the bar to their dorms to prevent these events from happening. "

" I have lost count of the OWI's and arrests...no comments? Are you all getting immune to this nonsense? They are not getting it Captain Kirk. Hopefully, those boys won't kill or injure someone while they are operating a motor vehicle while drunk. "
