Iowa's Pat Angerer was selected to the second team of the Associated Press All-American team.

Three members of the Iowa football team, including Bettendorf’s Pat Angerer, were named to the Associated Press All-American football team Tuesday.

Angerer, who has been named to at least two other all-American teams, was placed on the second team in voting by 14 sportswriters throughout the country. Offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga joined him on the second team, with strong safety Tyler Sash making the third team.

Angerer has led the Hawkeyes in tackles each of the past two seasons and had 135 this season, the second most of any player in the Big Ten. He has led the Hawkeyes in tackles in nine straight games heading into the Jan. 5 FedEx Orange Bowl.

Sash led the Big Ten in interceptions, and Bulaga was named the league’s offensive lineman of the year.

Two players from the Georgia Tech team that faces Iowa in the Orange Bowl were honored. Defensive end Derrick Morgan made the first team, and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas is on the third team.

Alabama, which takes on Texas in the BCS national championship game, had six players on the first team, including Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram. Ingram was a unanimous selection, along with fellow Heisman finalists Toby Gerhart of Stanford and Ndamukong Suh of Nebraska.
