“Anthony will be traveling with us, but we haven’t decided what that means as far as his availability,” Lickliter said. “That’s the next step for him. It’s a weekend game, so he will not be missing any class time. It makes sense.”
Lickliter said Tucker continues to inch his way toward a return to the court.
Iowa’s second-leading scorer has missed 12 games since being arrested on public intoxication charges Dec. 20. He was immediately suspended from all team activities, but was allowed to return to practice two weeks ago.
“He’s been doing everything he is supposed to do,” Lickliter said. “I hope we’re making progress.”
Lickliter said ailing point guard Cully Payne and injured shooting guard Matt Gatens are making progress as well.
Payne revealed after Wednesday’s game with Illinois that he had been dealing with pneumonia, while an ankle sprain has slowed Gatens for the past 10 days.
“Both of those guys seem willing to tough it out,” Lickliter said. “They’re competitive guys, and if the doctors allow them to play, they’re going to play. Cully has been a bit under the weather and rest is probably the only thing that will help Matt, but they continue to give us everything they have.”
Both players practiced Friday.
